🔥 Fire Danger Season is 1 November 2025 to 30 April 2026 in the Mid North district.
Living in a bushfire risk area means danger could be on your doorstep – especially during Fire Danger Season. Take the time to understand the Fire Danger Rating System and update your 5 Minute Bushfire Plan to include the rating that will be your trigger to leave. If you own property, prepare it now for the season ahead.
No fires may be lit in the open during this time without a permit (permits won’t be issued prior to 1 March 2026). Heavy penalties apply for lighting or maintaining an unauthorised fire.
⚠ Fire Danger Rating System
Did you know fire danger ratings tell you how dangerous a bushfire would be if it broke out – not the likelihood of a fire starting? The SA Country Fire Service publishes them between 4.30pm and 5pm daily during fire danger season. To find out the fire danger rating for the Mid North region you can:
➡ Check the SA Country Fire Service Updates page or website cfs.sa.gov.au/ratings
➡ Listen to or watch your local news weather forecast
➡ Call the Bushfire Information Hotline on 1800 362 361 (TTY 133 677)
➡ Download the Alert SA app and turn on notifications: alert.sa.gov.au
➡ Download the Bureau of Meteorology app and turn on notifications: bom.gov.au/bom-weather-app
Do not rely on a single source for your emergency information.

⚠ Prepare your property
Private property owners are required to take reasonable steps to reduce fire hazards under the Fire and Emergency Services Act 2005.
Your early consideration and fire prevention maintenance will help to protect your family, friends, pets, property and community from the danger of fire. Information for property owners: apc.sa.gov.au/home/latest-news/fire-danger-season-2025-2026
