How to reduce wild artichoke spread on your property 🚜Now is the best time to control wild artichoke.

Wild artichokes in our region are currently growing rosettes, which means their purple flowers full of seed are not too far away.

They form dense, prickly vegetation that smothers pastures, makes crop harvesting difficult and outcompetes native plants.

Managing invasive weeds is a community effort! We spend a lot of time and effort trying to keep it under control on council land and roadsides, but if left to grow uncontrolled on private property, it's difficult to keep numbers down.

🔍 Wild artichoke is a greyish-green thistle, growing up to 2m tall. Branches are ribbed and have cobweb-like hairs. Flowers have purple, blue, pink, or whitish petals up to 13cm in diameter.
